BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCE, HYDERABAD CAMPUS

The students of school of Engineering associated with Student Technical Activity Club (STAC), ADYPU participated in various robotic competitions at ATMOS-17, the National Level Competition organized by BITS-Hyderabad Campus from 27-10-2017 to 29-10-2017.The team consisted of 15 students who participated in the following robotic events.

  • 1. Line Following Robots
  • 2. I-Navigate
  • 3. Bomb squad

The team participated in Bomb Squad event stood FIRST and was rewarded with Rs.20,000.00 cash prize. The I-Navigate team ranked SECOND and received a cash prize of Rs.6000.00.

BOMBSQUAD: 1st Place

It was a competition of Pick & Place robot where competitors has to make a robot which was enabled with RFID module as well as an ESP8266 WiFi module. During competition, the robot has to scan the RFID tags spread across the arena and send the ID to the server. After the server gets the data, it would light up one location in the arena with a cylinder which was referred as BOMB. The robot has to then got to that point, pick up the bomb, and take it to the Safe Zone within given time limit. This competition tested the coding skills of competitors for merging ESP WiFi module with RFID, thus giving them a challenge. Our robot was also featured in one of the local news paper in Hyderabad.

I-Navigate : 2nd Place

I-Navigate was a event of gesture controlled robot where robot should perform a given task that is go through the arena without colliding with the walls made for competition and the robot which takes least time to complete the task wins. The robot shown in picture on left side won second price. It was controlled by the inertial measurement system of android mobile.

ROBO SOCCER : 2ND PRIZE

Robo soccer is most usual robotics competition which held in many colleges. student of ADYPU visited event Quark held in BITS Goa campus and won second prize. This competition is a soccer fight between two robots, the ball was kept between robots where robot have to push the ball into opponents goal whoever scores more wins.

ROBO-RACE :3RD PRIZE

roborace is also a competition of time where time matters, one mistake and you are out. This competition consists of a task of some barriers, some difficult terrains, obstacles etc. the manual controlled robot must complete the given task in minimum time, operator should be calm in this competition to complete the task without fail or mistakes. the robot made by team STAC took 17 seconds and got third prize whereas the robot on first place took approximately 14 seconds
